It is with great sadness that I write that our wonderful friend, Tony Brimo, whom we first met
some 14 years ago, died on the 26th January (Australia Day), in hospital in Sydney.
Although his passing was very sudden, it was very peaceful and he was surrounded by his daughters and his gorgeous wife, Aylin.

Andrew and I are both devastated at having lost such a wonderful friend.
Tony was one of the kindest men we have had the fortune to meet: a fantastic storyteller, a fiercely loyal, loving, non-judgmental friend and an absolute gentleman.
We know that he touched everybody’s life in an incredibly positive way and will be missed by us all.
We spoke with Aylin yesterday. She is being incredibly strong but we know she would appreciate any virtual hugs at this very sad time.
He fell ill this last summer in Turkey and whilst we were there, we visited him and Aylin in hospital, waiting for biopsy results from a large tumour on his pancreas.

He fell ill this last summer in Turkey and whilst we were there, we visited him and Aylin in hospital, waiting for biopsy results from a large tumour on his pancreas.
We thought it would be the last time we saw him as he was very ill, but the day after we left, his results came through and the tumour was benign and he had the tumour surgically removed.
A miracle.
Or maybe just a reminder that life is too short. The scare made them decide that life was indeed too short for him to be working so hard still in his 60’s, so they resigned from India and moved back to Sydney.
He was fit and well and even running each morning a couple of weeks ago. Then he started getting pains again and on Sunday was ambulanced to hospital where on Monday he had a CT scan to find he had terminal liver and pancreatic cancer – with 3 to 6 months to live. He was moved into the palliative care unit of Sacred Heart hospital in Sydney on Tuesday as he was in a lot of pain, Wednesday he slipped into a coma and yesterday he died. So really he had 3-6 days not months.
We only found out Thursday morning that he had slipped into a coma and just as we were trying
to contact Aylin, we got the news that he had died.
We are devastated. We feel completely bereft.
But also, so glad we got to see him in the summer and that we said our goodbyes then.
A miracle.

Bloody cancer.
As another friend of ours said, Tony must not have needed to make amends with anyone – he did not need the 3-6 months. Days were all he needed.
Our thoughts are completely with Aylin at the moment – our memories with Tony and our angst for Aylin is foremost in both Andrew and my minds at the moment – we’re finding it hard to think of anything else.
The sadness we are feeling is tough. Friends shouldn’t die. No, that’s silly. Of course they will die. It’s the dealing with the loss that is hard.
Thank you Tony.
Thank you for your music.
Thank you for your smile.
Thank you for your never-ending stories.
Thank you for making us feel loved.
Thank you for being the best of mates.
Thank you, Tony.

May the angels always be blessed with your gift of music.
Godspeed our friend.
