Halloween weekend, we were invited to my Head of Dept's compound for a Halloween day of fun, BBQ and Bonfire. It was amazingly fun - the parents on the compound put it together really well, each family in charge of setting up a game with treats for the kids to enjoy - there was: Eyeball bobbing; Halloween tombola; donuts on strings, knock the gravestone over, dress the scarecrows, Halloween Trivia quiz, Madame Za Za fortune telling; fish for bones; search for ghosts in the bushes; Guess the time Mrs Witch; and probably heaps more I can't remember off hand. The girls had so much fun. This was followed by a fantastic BBQ, cooked by a couple of South African dads, a scary haunted garden - basically, this was for the older kids and involved much running about the desert being scared by parents - unfortunately one girl ran slap bang into a palm tree and cut her forehead open and so was raced to hospital and the game ended!! My girls were too young for the game, thankfully, and we went trick or treating round the compound. Every house involved many sweets for kids and beers for parents!!
We then went back to enjoy a massive beach BBQ.
Such a great community atmosphere. They apparently organise it every year - so much preparation, but a really great day/night out.
