Al Dar Island

So, we decided whilst Daddy was here, and we had a few days left of holiday, we would go on an adventure to a little island just off the coast of Bahrain.
The island is only about 10 minutes speedboat trip from Fisherman's Port in Riffa and was really quite lovely! Bahrain isn't known for its beaches at all, but this was quite pretty, if you only looked out in one direction, as the other three directions were views of oil refineries - not so pleasant!
The water was warm, the sand was clean, the beach bar on site served alcohol and BBQ food (not the greatest, but filled a hole!) and the kids spent a wonderful day searching for shells, collecting crabs and building sand castles. Annalise also learned how to snorkel so she had a fab day watching all the fish. We went with three other families with small kiddies and so they kept themselves amused for the whole day, leaving us adults to relax, read books (I haven't read a book for ages - it was so nice to tuck myself into it again!)
We arrived on the island at 9am and left on the last boat at 4pm (due to Martial Law here, there is currently a curfew in all waters in Bahrain at 5pm, so everyone has to be off the water by then - the island is usually open till 10pm).
We didn't mind as the lack of tourists here as well meant that we had the island COMPLETELY to ourselves for the first three hours of the day - bliss!
The girls crashed in our bed as soon as we got home - aren't they absolutely cute?!
