Theatre Trip to 'Annie' and Watching Aussie Rules Essendon V Hawthorn

So we all decided to go the beautiful Regent's theatre in town to watch the touring 'Annie' - not my favourite of musicals but it was pretty good - we got second row seats and so had fabulous views. There were a couple of very well known Aussie stars in the show - Bert Newton?  Anyone non- Aussie know him?  He was very good.

At the interval, we heard 'Kathryn! Andrew!' shouted at us across the huge theatre - and my goodness, it was three friends who we worked with in Oman 9 years ago - Shane & Anita and their two little ones who were visiting from Tasmania where they are spending their summer holidays (They teach in Luanda, Angola) and Diane, who works in Bangkok! We couldn't believe it - so after the show we went for beers and snacks in town whilst the kids got on like a house on fire.
It really does amaze me how small this crazy old word really is!

Tracey flew down from Cairns to visit us and a few of her relatives and so her first night here, we went to watch Essendon V Hawthorn at the Etihad stadium in Melbourne.  It was a very cold night, Essendon played abysmally (!) but we had fun nonetheless! The girls got to experience their first footie match (Aussie rules) - not sure how much they enjoyed the football, but they liked the hot chocolate and snacks!
