Just back from the Dr's - Juliette was overdue her 1 year jabs and so Andrew and I decided that whilst we were going to get her jabs done, we'd ask about what was needed for Jakarta.
Well!
Juliette got the first dose of Hepatitis A and has to get her MMR and chicken pox vaccines in 2 weeks time.
Andrew and I got three vaccines out of the way today: 1) Diphtheria 2) Tetanus 3) Polio.
And that was just for starters!
We have to all (including Annalise) go back in 2 weeks for Hepatitis A, then over the course of a month, get 3 doses of Japanese Encephalitis and we also have to contact the CDC in Taipei to get Typhoid Fever jabs done as the vaccine is only available in the CDC!
After all these, we can decide whether we want Hepatitis B vaccines too (the girls have had theirs) - in case we have 'relations' with infected people (highly unlikely!) or need blood transfusions (highly undesirable).
There is also yellow fever in some parts of Indonesia - but not Jakarta, but if we plan on travelling we should perhaps have that too.
Let's hope our health insurance will cover our bills as it's gonna be expensive!
Have to say though, that we had the gentlest nurse ever giving us the jabs today - I didn't even realise it had gone in my arm and then when Juliette had hers in her leg, she frowned and said 'Oh?!' and that was it! No tears, nothing!! Let's hope we have the same nurse next time!
To 'Pin cushiondom' here we come!
