Got a very welcome call at 5am this morning from both the girls' school and our own that due to the massive amount of rain we had last night, Kelapa Gading (the area we live in) has been cut off from the rest of the city due to the flooding so NO SCHOOL! Yay! We all slept in till 10am! Nice.
Our school doesn't seem so bad, it has been built slightly above ground level so the flooding isn't bad at all. The swimming pool water though, is dark grey and has what looks like a geyser pumping in yuk water from beneath - let's hope it isn't sewege (probably is though!).
The water isn't so deep - but all the canals have broken over their limits and so everywhere is just rain water mixed with the yucky infested canal water.
We had a lovely BBQ at ours last night with our next door neighbours - see? The weather was perfect yesterday and evening - but come 1am, the heavens opened! Weather is still lovely and warm.
Yesterday we went out and bought Juliette's birthday presents. Her main one from us, is an electric remote control car! I want it though - it's beautiful! It looks like an open top peugeot 207 (almost the same colour as I had in Muscat) and I reckon both girls could squeeze in the seat at a push! You can work it yourself with the electric pedals and buttons or be driven around by the remote control. Can't wait for her to see it as she LOVES cars! Times have changed muchly since Stephen had his little police car in Long Melford!
Annalise is going to be a bit sad though we think!
