Last week, was Earth Week. Amongst many activities and themed units for the week, we ended the week with an assembly/house competition.
Each house in grades 1 - 5 had to get together recycled items and put together 4 outfits for a fashio nshow. We had 1 hour to make the costumes. This is my houses' attempt, which I thought was pretty good. We made a gladiator, a pirate, a mermaid and the piece de resistance....the 'Alternative Wedding Dress'! (modeled by one of my 5th grader BOYS!)
The dress was actually done really well with a strong 3 ringed hoop petticoat made from rolled up pieces of paper underneath the dustinbag dress! Complete with bouquet made from a used drink bottle, straws and plastic bags!
I thought you'd like to look at it. They did us proud, the 'Badak' house! (Means Rhinocerous in Indonesian.)
