Ooh - first of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Fiona! Hope you have a wonderful day today.
We'll see you VERY soon!

We've had an offer on our house (hallelujah!) - a bit less than the last one that fell through but think we'll go with it. However, the sticking point is that the new buyers want our tenant to vacate, but they want to settle in 30 days. That might mean if we agree, we're up for paying a large amount of money to get rid of our tenant peacefully. Our agent is going to see what our current tenant would want if we kick him out.
There's something very odd in this selling houses business. Remember the guy who pulled out at the last minute a couple of weeks back? Well, he pulled out with no apparent reason, so of course his deposit will not be returned to him. However, him and his solicitor are refusing to release the deposit to us. If we want it, we have to sue. What is this? I thought that was the point of deposits - to ensure that if all fell through, the owners were protected a little?
The cost of suing would be more than the deposit is worth.
So, what happens to the money? It just sits in the solicitors bank. Untouched. rotting away.
That sucks.
Grrrrrrrr.................
