Bangkok Fun

Posted by Picasa
Text to follow shortly - I promise! So much to write. x Done!
We had a wonderful time3 in Bangkok - not because of the job fair, which is the main reason we went, but because of being able to see Stephen & Lauren (who were amazingly brilliant at babysitting the girls whilst we were off interviewing and making decisions etc etc) and we also managed to meet up with our friends Trish & lex Curtain and Julia Hatch from our days in Muscat.
It was sooooo good to catch up with everyone.
Stephen and Lauren are having a great time in Bangkok and took us to some local haunts of theirs on Khao Shan road which was excellent.
The girls absolutely adore Stephen & Lauren - we may as well not have existed for the girls whilst they were around! How refreshing!
We were staying in a great hotel right next to the Klong river and next to the royal Orchid Sheraton hotel which was where the fair was. However, our room, which was the same size as an average room at the Sheraton, was 17 pounds a night. The Royal Orchid was 150.
So, you can see why we decided to stay the four nights in our little boutique hotel!
It was clean, friendly, had free wireless, within 2 mins of a 711 and had a great bar fridge.
Who needs 5 star?!
We left Bangkok jobless but not overly worried. In fact, we almost went to Khartoum, but are so glad we are not going, in hindsight.
There are heaps of jobs coming up everyday.
We sort of felt a little pressured into going for and perhaps accepting jobs that we would not have completely been happy going to, as you sort of get wound up in the intense pressure of the recruiting fair, and feel like you have to come away with a job, even if it's a crap one; but we managed to keep our senses and stick to our original plan:
1) We must have a better salary than we're on at then moment
2) The girls must be able to get a good education and social life at the school
3) Andrew does more than just classroom teaching. He must have some kind of responsibility role.
I don't much mind what I do....but the three goals above are what we need to go for. Or at least two out of the three (No. 2 is an absolute MUST.)
We'll keep you updated.
