So New year's Eve the weather was boiling hot in the afternoon and we decided to take the girls to the family fun fair at Yarra Park in Melbourne City to start the festivities. We had a beautiful (but oh-so-long) walk to the fair - it really is gorgeous along the river and by the MCG. We arrived at 5pm as it opened and so it was very manageable and not crowded and so the girls got their faces painted (for free...how brilliant was that? And how amazing is Juliette's face?! - The makeup girl couldn't get over the size of her eye3s and lips and made sure everyone oin her team came and looked at little Ju Ju!)
We then paid a ridiculous amount of money for rides for the girls but, hey it was NYE afterall... except for they both started on a huge bouncy castle thing and after 5 minutes, we heard a scream and Annalise had landed very strangely on her arm....i thought it was broken at first the way she was gasping and crying, but I think she just bruised the tissue or bone. she sat out of the funfair for the next hour or so, whilst Juliette went o9n all the rides, the little daredevil!
The crowds really started coming by 6.30pm and we decided it would be best to start to leave then.
Lucky we did as the heavens opened and we were treated on the train (which took an hour and a half for a 15mins journey ....NYE traffic!) to an amazing lightening and thunder storm.
We arrived at Fiona's for a NYE BBQ that was quickly turned into a NYE oven and grill baked dinner, many glasses of champagne, wine, beer, the usual!
We watched the fireworks from the attic room - mixed in with the electrical lightening storm it was pretty spectacular! And then we lit sparklers, popped party poppers, boogied on down to the Rolling Stones and then passed out at some ridiculous time!
