Dungeon & Water Torture

This dungeon was the male prison- a small 8ft square area that would have housed 40 men at one time - no toilet except for a hole in the floor and routinely the men would drown in the floods or die of infection.

The women's dungeons are below the mens', underground. And only 85cm high so you could only crawl. Horrific.

Kota is only 150m from the sea, and so water torture was easy. In the courtyard of the museum, there is hole - looks like a well. In the outside square, there is a water fountain. They would put 8 - 10 men inside the whole, lock the grate above them and then turn the water fountain on. This in turn would fill the 'well' up so that the men had to swim to stay alive, with their noses and mouths pressed up against the grate to breathe. Then leeches would be poured in.

The men would eventually drown as they fell asleep. When all had died, they had to dispose of them. So, the water fountain and 'well' have links via tunnels to the ocean. They would open the tunnels, allowing the ocean water to rush in and wash the dead out into the ocean. Tadaaa! Sickening.
