The day after our sleepover, we began the day with a massive breakfast, then Sharon and I went to the local tourist office whilst the Daddies took the kids to the pool. We came back, full of tourist pamphlets and decided to go to the Coves de Campanet (Caves of Campanet). These are underground caves - there are caves all over Majorca - which are absolutely beautiful. We had a brilliant tour guide and she told us fascinating stories about how this particular one was discovered about 60 years ago,
The cave consists of several chambers over about 300 metres and are beautifully cold, after the heat of above ground.
A short tunnel leads to the Palm Tree Chamber (one of the stalactites looks like a Palm tree) . We went through a passage that leads to a Lake Chamber which looks like a wet lava lake but is rock solid. The largest chamber is called the Romantic Chamber. The chamber is noted for the massive stalagmite columns. We had a ball there and the kids were so excited as their imaginations were on fire and they saw heaps of different images in all of the rock formations. The colours of the cave were gorgeous.
